About Department
The Department of Education embarked on its journey in
the year 2023, under NEP-2020 curriculum, with an intake capacity of 20
students. The department offers a four-year bachelor degree program, at
present.
The primary objective of the course is to educate
students about the recent
trends in the education system and the challenges of implementation as well as create an awareness amongst them about their
rights and responsibilities within a social framework. It aims to ensure
quality education, enhancing learning outcomes, and bridging social and gender
gaps in the education system. The program emphasizes on the relevance of skill enhancement
and vocational courses in the education system. It promotes an individual’s knowledge
related to human development in the physical, social, emotional, moral,
speech/language, and cognitive domains.
Education is the study
of the process of receiving and giving systematic instruction. As a degree, it
mixes a theoretical grounding in the history, anthropology, sociology and
economics of education, psychology and human development, and applied courses
on teaching methods. Different areas of specialisations are childhood
education, health and physical education, primary teaching, secondary teaching
or secondary teaching/vocational education.
A degree in education empowers
an individual with a set of key, transferable skills such as an ability to work
and communicate effectively - oral and written; information and communication
technology savviness; research, analytical skills and problem-solving skills; teamwork
and management skills.
The Department of Education's syllabus comprises
theoretical and practical lectures, workshops, projects, assignments, and
various classroom activities. Additionally, the department aims to prepare
students to become contributing, loving, responsible, resourceful, and engaged
members of society.
