The Department of History at Holy Cross College embarked on its academic journey in July

2018. Over the course of the past six and a half years, the Department has been dedicated to

fostering the study of history and promoting research activities in alignment with

contemporary educational standards.

In adherence to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Department has embraced a

multidisciplinary approach to the teaching of History, integrating diverse perspectives and

methodologies. Regularly engaging in robust academic activities, the Department organizes

invited lectures, seminars, conferences, workshops, educational trips, and the screening of

historical documentaries and films. These initiatives aim to enrich the intellectual growth of

students and offer an immersive learning experience.

The Department places a strong emphasis on empowering students through academic

excellence and personal development. Various measures are implemented to strengthen the

academic foundation and enhance career prospects of learners. Educational field visits are a

regular feature, offering students practical exposure to historical contexts and research

settings.

Faculty members are actively engaged in research and have contributed extensively to the

academic community through publications in peer-reviewed, UGC-referred, and UGC-

CARE-listed journals. Beyond scholarly contributions, the faculty remains committed to

providing comprehensive guidance and support to students, both within and beyond the
